On cold days, with the altimeter set to standard pressure, the indicated altitude will tend to be what relative to the true altitude?

Higher than true altitude

The altimeter assumes a standard pressure–height relationship. When the air is colder than standard, the pressure falls more quickly with height. At a given true altitude, the actual ambient pressure is lower than what the standard atmosphere would predict for that height. The altimeter, set to standard pressure, interprets that lower pressure as being higher above the surface, so the indicated altitude ends up higher than the true altitude.

Lower than true altitude

Equal to true altitude

Unpredictable
